Mrs. Lisa Giles

I am a year 2000 Bachelor of General Studies graduate from Northwestern State University. I earned my alternative certification from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and on my teaching certificate I earned, through Southeastern University, an ESL add on to teach students that have English as their second language. I am certified to teach grades 1-6th. I lived and grew up in Marksville, Louisiana and first began teaching in the public schools in East Baton Rouge in  2005 when hurricane Katrina hit. I taught in 3rd grade for nine years, then I got married and moved to Ascension parish where I worked at Apple Digital Academy, which is the parish's only alternative school. My husband and I relocated to his home parish of Calcasieu in 2016. I taught 1st grade my first year in the parish at Henry Heights, then when I was pregnant with my twin daughters, I moved to Nelson Elementary and taught Pre-K for two years. I have now been in the parish for 7 years and taught 4th grade for the 2021-2022 school year. I loved teaching virtually 3rd grade during the pandemic, but I am happy to be teaching students again in the classroom.
